We have friendly care staff that are trained, skilled, appropriately qualified and committed to delivering an excellent standard of care.
All new homecare supporters attend an intense induction programme which includes first aid, fire safety, protection of vulnerable adults, basic food hygiene, infection control and safer client moving and handling.
Once their initial training is complete, the new home care providers also spend time shadowing experienced care supporters in real life care situations. They do this before they begin providing home care themselves.
They are regularly assessed by co-ordinators and have annual appraisals, regular supervisions and are fully supported in their work and professional development by our management team.
Qualifications and on going development
Home care supporters will be qualified to NVQ level 2 in Care or will be working towards that qualification. They receive on going training to ensure they have the necessary skills, experience and qualifications to meet your needs. This training includes dementia care, protection of vulnerable adults, promoting equality and diversity and safe handling of medicines.
Pat Briggs is a member of the Laurels Home Care Management Team. She is an NVQ assessor and internal verifier for ‘Beecaretrained’ and takes responsibility for ‘The Laurels’ NVQ's in Health and Social Care, she also manages the Laurels Home Care quality assurance.
